Comparing is connecting
From the outset, Nadjma’s work has been interdisciplinary and comparative, shaped by her experience with different legal cultures and academic environments.
In this spirit, she leads the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law as a place where concrete legal questions, comparative work and research come together. A question arising in practice may lead to broader comparative research; research, in turn, provides knowledge that can be used to address new questions.
The Institute brings together expertise in different legal systems, languages and cultures. Bringing these perspectives together through comparison creates connections, turning the resulting knowledge into a shared resource.
Responsibilities
As Director, she leads and shapes the Institute within the strategic framework set by the Institute’s Council, combining its conceptual development with responsibility for its operational management.
Leadership is an important part of this role, with particular attention to how people work together and contribute to the Institute’s development.
