{"id":717,"date":"2025-08-14T11:55:43","date_gmt":"2025-08-14T09:55:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/map-dev.ch\/isdc\/?post_type=profil&#038;p=717"},"modified":"2026-10-15T10:00:57","modified_gmt":"2026-10-15T08:00:57","slug":"dr-lukas-heckendorn-urscheler","status":"publish","type":"profil","link":"https:\/\/isdc.ch\/de\/profil\/dr-lukas-heckendorn-urscheler\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr. Lukas Heckendorn Urscheler"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Deputy Director<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Deputy Director, Lukas participates in the operational management of the Institute, ensuring that it carries out its tasks effectively and in accordance with the strategic framework defined by the Institute\u2019s Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this role, he focuses on the Institute\u2019s interaction with Swiss public authorities and stakeholders, promoting the accessibility and practical relevance of its work in the Swiss context and contributing to increasing its impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Co-Head of the Legal Division<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Co-Head of the Legal Division, he is responsible for the conceptual development and the academic quality of the Institute\u2019s research and expert work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this role, he actively participates in the coordination of the Institute\u2019s team of lawyers and supports their professional development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He ensures that the Institute\u2019s work is grounded in rigorous research and takes into account and explains the different social and cultural contexts in which foreign law operates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He makes sure that the Institute\u2019s thematic priorities are reflected both in its work and in its engagement with academic partners and the wider public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Professional background<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lukas joined the Swiss Institute of Comparative Law in 2009 and was appointed Deputy Director in 2010. He has been lecturing in European and comparative family law as well as in comparative law since 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Always intrigued by the cultural dimensions of law, he has combined academic and practical experience across different jurisdictions in Europe (Switzerland, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden) as well as in South Asia and Africa. He holds a Master\u2019s degree and a PhD from the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) as well as degrees from foreign institutions (LLM, Kathmandu School of Law; PG Certificate, London External Program).
